Stehender, Apfel essender Knabe

The drawing is related to at least two paintings of which one is executed on canvas and the other ones on copper. The canvas version is kept in an Austrian private collection (Images of this work are available in Albertina's internal database.). The copper version is mentioned in the exhibition catalogue of 1973 (exh. cat. Trémolières, Musée de Cholet, No. 37, p. 109)  and was presumably accompanied by a companion piece "La petite gourmande de cerises" which was executed on copper as well. The whereabouts of the two paintings are not known. The canvas version appeared and was sold on the Austrian art market in 2000 and reappeared on the German market in 2001 where it was acquired by the present owner in 2002.
