Zwiesprache (Myriam mit Katze)
Karl Hubbuch
um 1952-1954
Karl
Next to Otto Dix, George Grosz, and Max
Beckmann, Karl Hubbuch ranks among the most important exponents of New
Objectivity in Germany. He shared his friends’ fate of being ostracized as a
degenerate artist by the Nazis.
After World War II, only Hubbuch and Beckmann created autonomous oeuvres of singular power and monumental scale on a par with their early works—oeuvres that are of equal rank to that of the far more famous Picasso.
